Knitwear Care Guide

Keep your hand-knitted pieces looking beautiful for years with proper care and maintenance

Washing

  • Hand wash in cold water (below 30°C) with a gentle detergent
  • Turn garments inside out before washing
  • Avoid rubbing or wringing - gently squeeze excess water
  • Never use bleach or harsh chemicals
  • For machine washing (if label permits), use a mesh laundry bag and wool/delicate cycle

Drying

  • Lay flat on a clean, dry towel to dry
  • Reshape while damp to maintain original dimensions
  • Never hang knitwear as it can stretch and distort
  • Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources
  • Allow to air dry completely before storing

Ironing

  • Use low heat setting if needed
  • Place a damp cloth between iron and garment
  • Steam is preferable to direct ironing
  • Never iron directly on embellishments or prints
  • Most knitwear can be refreshed by steaming instead

Storage

  • Always fold knitwear - never hang on hangers
  • Store in breathable cotton bags or acid-free tissue
  • Add cedar blocks to prevent moths
  • Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading
  • Ensure garments are completely clean and dry before storing
